Vision of a European low-carbon society: Widen the energy debate!

Increase the visibility of our carbon footprint, and create more inclusive spaces for energy dialogue. These are some of the recommendations in the R&Dialogue vision and action plan for a low-carbon society.

The R&Dialogue consortium has published a vision and action plan for a low-carbon European society. The vision is meant to inspire new and improved dialogues about how we can reduce our carbon footprint.

The vision and action plan builds upon the learnings in a dialogue analysis based on the project’s national low-carbon dialgues in ten European countries. Some of the principles that have been applied are transparency of decision-making processes, respectful dialogue between a large number of stakeholders and citizens, and flexible approaches to dialogue.

R&Dialogue’s European Dialogue Report presents lessons and themes from ten low-carbon dialogues

In the R&Dialogue project, we facilitated in ten countries a low-carbon dialogue with representatives from energy, the low-carbon R&D community, social actors and others. In each country, a ‘coalition of the willing’ explored the challenges of dialogue and articulated its view on improving the dialogue.

The European Dialogue Reports is a collection of experiences in dialogue and a reflection on the themes emerging from those dialogues. Below is a short introduction of each chapter, find the full document here.

The event was a cooperation between R&Dialogue, E-TRACK of the European Commission’s Joint Research Centre and the European Energy Dialogue of the European Economic and Social Committee. With this cooperation we aimed for the continuation of R&Dialogue’s work and lessons beyond the project.
